How Warton Drama Group Used Stage Props in Their Sold-Out Production of Hay Fever.

When Warton Drama Group prepared their recent production of Noël Coward's classic comedy Hay Fever, the production team wanted realistic smoking scenes that would help bring the characters and period atmosphere to life on stage.

Like many theatre groups today, they needed a practical alternative to real cigarettes.

For this production, Warton Drama Group selected the Stage Props cigarette system, allowing performers to create realistic smoking effects without ash, smoke smell or open flame.

The production proved to be a great success.

According to Warton Drama Group:

"The e-cigarettes were a great success and very much added to the look and atmosphere of the piece."

The production was completely sold out, and the cigarettes were used throughout rehearsals, dress rehearsals and the live performances.

One of the actors, Phil, who portrayed Richard Greatham, was even featured using the Stage Props cigarette on promotional material for the production.

Creating Realistic Period Atmosphere.

Many productions of Hay Fever aim to recreate the social atmosphere of an English country house in the 1920s. Smoking forms part of the visual language of the period and can help strengthen the authenticity of a performance.

However, real cigarettes are often impractical in modern theatres due to venue restrictions, health considerations and safety requirements.

Stage Props offers an alternative that allows productions to maintain the visual effect while avoiding many of the challenges associated with traditional smoking.
